General Instruction
Greg Virgoe
One person we’ve found invaluable is a chap called Greg Virgoe, or my self-build god! What this guy doesn’t know about campervan conversions isn’t worth knowing. He sets everything you need to know out in a clear and easy to understand way, with lots of examples and diagrams. He lists all the equipment and resources that he uses so you know exactly what to use and where to buy it.
He does all his own builds to the highest British and European standards so gives you an overview of all the rules and regulations, and how to build your van safely. This is especially important when it comes to the gas and electrical systems.
You can find his YouTube channel here https://www.youtube.com/c/GregVirgoe.
Hugh Tube
Another useful set of videos has been from Hugh at Hugh Tube. He’s not as experienced as Greg, and as he’s an amateur van builder he’s not quite as professional so there’s a bit of botching! But that’s exactly how we’re doing it so it’s good to see that others face the same problems we do. His explanations are really clear, but where he differs from Greg is that he goes through the mistakes he made and how to avoid them. This is really helpful because we’re making some of the same mistakes and struggling with the same things. So it’s nice to know that it’s not just us.
