Getting your system layouts right is one of the most important first steps
“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!”
Benjamin Franklin
This is one of the most well known and often referenced quotes, especially by any project manager, and in this case it is oh so true. Everything in the van relies on the integrity and capacity of the different systems – Where you can camp, how long for, what gadgets and devices you can take, how often you can wash etc.
Before you even start putting anything into the van you have to figure out how much electrical power, water, heating, air flow you need, where it will go in the van, what type of power hook up you want. The lists are endless and are very much dictated by how you want to camp, where you plan to go, and what type of camper you are.
In these pages we’ll show you how we designed the various systems based on our needs and plans, the calculations and assumptions we used, final system diagrams, and links to the various products we ended up buying.
These won’t be right for every build but they’ll hopeflly give you a good jumping-off point to start your own planning.
